We work in rural communities that often do not have access to healthcare facilities. We therefore train our community resource persons (CORPs) to be able to deliver basic life-saving interventions such as monitoring of vital signs, administration of iron and folic acid and regular blood pressure monitoring.
The CORPs also engage in health education teaching pregnant women about things to avoid during pregnancy such as smoking and alcohol.
We understand the importance of new mothers asking questions and learning from multiparous women.
Our online community provides an avenue for pregnant women to discuss various issues affecting pregnancy outcomes, from food options, appropriate exercise, and the things to avoid.
We provide “Lam-a-Doc”, an avenue for pregnant and intending mothers to ask trained medical personnel their bothersome questions and get clarifications.
Through our Lam-a-Doc feature, we are working towards being able to respond to these women in their native dialects.
We are involved in maternal health advocacy urging governments at different levels to take measures that will improve the health of women such as making antenatal coverage and childbirth free for pregnant women.
We also believe enrolling pregnant women into the health insurance scheme will greatly improve maternal health indices.
